Two visitors to Paris from the USA spent Monday night at dizzy heights: on the Eiffel Tower. Are you facing a penalty now?

Two US tourists secretly spent the night atop the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The two would have entered the landmark late Sunday evening with a ticket, the France Info broadcaster reported on Tuesday, referring to investigators. Later they would have gone to an area between the second and third floors that is not actually accessible to visitors. Security personnel got the two there on Monday morning before the opening of the Found sleeping at the Eiffel Tower. Rescuers from the fire brigade brought the tourists to safety.

According to investigators from the Paris public prosecutor’s office, the American tourists “are said to have gotten stuck in place because of their alcohol consumption,” the broadcaster reported. Since no damage was found on site, investigations “due to intrusion into a historical or cultural site” were discontinued without penalties.

However, the operator of the Eiffel Tower wants to sue the men, because the landmark could only open with a one-hour delay on Monday due to the recovery of the two, the broadcaster BFMTV reported. The Eiffel Tower only had to be evacuated on Saturday because of a bomb threat that turned out to be a false alarm.
