Tourist accommodation: the online teledeclaration system for overnight stays is operational

by times news cr

Thanks to this remote declaration system, which replaces manual declarations, each hotel night is recorded accurately and simply, through a daily online process on the “www.stdn.ma” platform, the ministry said in a press release.

Thus, and in accordance with law 80-14 relating to tourist accommodation establishments and other forms of accommodation, this transition to electronic declaration is mandatory for any establishment welcoming national or international tourists (hotels, guest houses, hotel residences, etc.), specifies the ministry.

In addition to regulatory compliance, this transition allows for valuable time and efficiency savings, thanks to the automation of the process. The STDN also offers tourist accommodation establishments privileged access to real-time statistics, allowing them to analyze their performance and quickly adapt to market developments.

From a sectoral point of view, the STDN makes it possible to improve the analyses of the performance of hotel establishments, by facilitating the monitoring of tourist nights made by both Moroccan and foreign tourists. This will allow the tourist accommodation ecosystem as well as the competent authorities to better understand trends, identify strengths and opportunities for improvement, in order to adapt development strategies.

To enable the effective implementation of this system which opens up new perspectives, a fruitful collaboration took place between the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, the General Directorate of National Security and the Royal Gendarmerie.

Thus, in February 2024, a joint circular from the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, and the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, was sent to walis, governors as well as regional and provincial tourism delegates, inviting them to monitor registrations and electronic declarations and to raise awareness among hoteliers of the importance of complying with the regulations in force and ensuring a smooth transition to the Electronic Declaration System.

Thanks to this joint action, a general mobilization took place on the ground, making it possible to currently count 3,414 EHTCs registered with the STDN at the end of May 2024, or 83% of operational EHTCs, underlines the ministry, inviting the rest of the establishments to quickly comply with this process.
