The Catalan Federation of Tourist Apartments has been unmarked this Thursday from the housing problems and has warned that without its contribution to the sector, up to 46% of the hotel offer would be lost. In a press conference in Barcelona they warned that eliminating this modality would mean the loss of 40% of visitors that arrive today at Catalonia i more than 26,000 jobs. On the other hand, the president of the entity, David Riba, has claimed the apartments as the “more sustainable” mode of accommodation and has asked for dialogue with the Government, which is preparing a new law for the sector. “This house, if we take away its license, will not go on the rental market”, said Riba before warning that a large part of the apartments are second residences.
