The French champions Tours, for men, and Le Cannet, for women, won the Supercup against the winners of the Coupe de France, Chaumont (3-1) and Béziers (3-0), Friday in Tours. The TVB, victorious for the fifth time of the trophy, overcame the loss of the first set (27-29, 25-19, 25-21, 25-23) to win, carried by its sharp Brazilian Aboubacar Dramé (23 pts including 3 aces) and the entry during the match of his American center Michael Parkinson (9 pts including 4 blocks). Chaumont, beaten by the Tourangeaux in the final of the championship in the spring and last year during the Supercup by Montpellier, notably lost its footing after the exit, at the end of the third set, of the sharp Czech Patrick Indra.
There was much less suspense among the women, where the reigning double French champions made short work of Béziers (25-14, 25-17, 25-17) to claim their first Super Cup. after their defeat last year against Mulhouse.
