The online travel platform ‘Tourbees’ has launched a package product that includes a recital by world-renowned pianist Lim Yun-chan, and has launched a cultural travel project that goes one step further than watching a performance at a travel destination and enjoys traveling at a performance venue.
Lim Yun-chan’s piano recital is scheduled to be held at the Esplanade Concert Hall in Singapore on June 28. Lim Yun-chan is the youngest winner of the 2022 Van Cliburn Competition and is leading the classical music craze, enjoying idol-level popularity. The Chopin Etude album, which will be released in April, has risen to the top of the popularity charts based on pre-orders alone, and all performances at home and abroad continue to be sold out. Tickets for the Singapore performance in June also sold out quickly, but reservations were available through Tourvis. This is thanks to the fact that it is a 3-night, 5-day travel package that includes flights, hotels, attractions, etc., so that you can travel to the area according to the performance schedule, rather than a single ticket. The reservation speed for this product was slow compared to individual ticket sales, but the cancellation rate was low, less than 1%.
Tourvis sought to differentiate itself with specialized programs and services. First, as it is a performance-oriented product, the highest seats were secured so that people could vividly enjoy Lim Yun-chan’s Chopin performance. In addition, in order to increase intimacy and anticipation for the artist and the performance, we prepared a backstage tour with a guide the day before the performance and a special lecture program related to the performance with an expert on the day of the performance.
The travel itinerary, other than performances, was created by analyzing data and preferences with a focus on culture and art-themed travel products. A docent tour of the ‘National Gallery’, which has the world’s largest collection of contemporary art from Singapore and Southeast Asia, Singapore’s natural attractions ‘National Botanical Garden Botanical Garden’ and ‘Gardens the Bay’, and the observation spot ‘Marina Bay Sands Sky Park’. Recommended courses for each field are included, such as ‘Riverboat’ and the shopping attraction ‘Ochar Road’.
This cultural trip focuses on incubation to test possibilities rather than immediate profitability as one of the package differentiation strategies. Tourvis’ cultural travel started in July 2019 as a 3-night, 5-day package that included a ticket to see the recital of Cho Seong-jin, the first Korean to win the Chopin Competition. However, it was discontinued that year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but was reorganized again this year and is a themed product that has come to the fore.
Starting with this, Tourvis plans to strengthen brand reliability and competitiveness by creating unique packages through collaboration with various artists and continuously launching cultural travel products centered on music, art, and sports.
Kyeong-du Han, head of the Tourvis package service team, said, “Tourvis is always paying attention to new cultures. Culture and travel can complement each other and create greater value. “We plan to continue to develop travel products linked to classical performances, such as Lim Yun-chan’s recital, as Tourvis-only themed products and seek ways to change the travel business from various perspectives,” he said.
