As part of raising awareness of road safety in the Republic of Guinea, IP.COM (IP Sécurité’s river communications company) has joined forces with the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, the Ministry of Information and Communication, as well as the Guinean Advertising Offer to officially launch its campaign entitled “Publimoto”.

This campaign aims to help every motorcyclist obtain a motorcycle driving license, a vest and two helmets. The announcement of the initiative took place during a conference hosted on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the Maison de la Presse, under the theme “Road Safety Awareness Campaign”.
Several personalities including those from the Ministries of Security and Civil Protection, Information and Communication and Media took part in this meeting. The objective of this campaign is multiple: Raise awareness of the importance of wearing helmets for passengers; Prevent deaths related to road accidents; Establish good civic habits; Popularize the Highway Code; Raise awareness of the requirement of a driving license for motorcyclists; Enforce safety measures governing motorcycle driving; Reduce cases of head trauma by wearing helmets; Put an end to overloading, …

IP Sécurité’s CEO, Jean Luc Millimono, stressed the urgency of taking action against the scourge of road accidents and the increase in unfortunate incidents. He specified that the campaign will begin in September 2024 and that its mission is to support government authorities and the transitional president, Lieutenant General Mamadi Doumbouya, in the social and economic development of Guinea. Preventing and combating road accidents are essential to achieving this objective.
In the pilot phase entitled “Publimoto,” Mr. Millimono continued, “we will list, raise awareness and bring together motorcyclists present throughout the national territory. As you know, travel in Conakry and in the interior of the country is mainly done by motorbike. It is therefore crucial to raise awareness among these motorcyclists now to stem the increase in accidents. We will provide them with helmets, one for the driver and another for the passenger, to ensure their safety. All motorcyclists listed will benefit from a vest and two helmets to protect both their own lives and that of other road users,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection, the Chief Commissioner of Police, Head of Division in charge of Prevention and Regulation at the Central Directorate of the Road Police, through his hierarchy, stressed that his department is ready to support IP.COM in the partnership to reduce traffic accidents by disciplining users. “These accidents are caused by many factors, including incivility, the main cause, drunk driving and characterized indiscipline. We are committed to supporting them in prevention so that this project is realized,” he said.
For his part, and on behalf of the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Director General of the National Daily Horoya, Ibrahima Koné, considered that motorcycle accidents affect all citizens. “We have a sovereign role which also consists of preventing unfortunate events related to road accidents. This is a crucial problem. Half of our young reporters, cameramen, journalists, technicians and presenters often travel by motorcycle, including Horoya, RTG and private media. We must therefore remind everyone to be careful. For such an initiative, we cannot remain without coming and showing our commitment to support the fight. Go to all corners of Guinea, the Directorates, institutions, the networks that the MIC has, mobilize and participate in this awareness. We are doing it to save why? To save lives. And, whose lives? Guineans naturally. I assure you on behalf of the minister that all the information channels that we have will be in this awareness campaign because it is about protecting our lives,” said the Director General of the Horoya newspaper.
Please remember that the distribution of vests and helmets is free and will extend across the entire national territory.
