DECRYPTION – The government’s decision, expected in July, arouses outrage among some players, including banks.

After three months marked by an exceptional collection, will the livret A benefit from a further increase in its rate in a few weeks? While more than 20 billion euros were deposited in the first quarter of 2023 on the French favorite regulated savings product, persistent inflation suggests an increase in remuneration from August. A track swept however by certain actors, who are worried about the consequences of an overly attractive booklet A.

If the Banque de France intends to maintain the suspense of its decision until July, the Caisse des dépôts et consignation (CDC) has already taken a position in favor of the status quo. Calling the inflationary spike “transient“, its managing director Éric Lombard warned against any excessive rise. “VSThere’s no need to yoyo with the Livret A rate. Probably, when inflation goes down, this rate will go down, but it won’t be for now.“, he argued on FranceInfo, this April 25.
