On October 7, journalist Mohamed Cissé, general administrator of the information site avenirguinee.comresponded to his summons by the High Authority of Communication (HAC). Summons following a complaint from the former Minister of Mines, Ahmed Kanté. The information site relayed an article signed by journalist Ousmane Bangoura, entitled “Is Ahmed Kanté above the law in Guinea? “.
Through the columns of the platform, the colleague accuses the former Minister of Mines of influence peddling, corruption, betrayal and conflicts of interest in the mining sector. Not having digested it, Ahmed Kanté therefore complained of “defamation through the press” to the High Authority of Communication. The author of the incriminating article and the administrator of the media who relayed it were subsequently summoned by the HAC. A letter dated September 30 and signed by Commissioner Amadou Touré was sent to them by the media regulatory institution.
Accompanied by Sékou Jamal Pendessa, secretary general of the Union of Press Professionals of Guinea (SPPG), Mohamed Cissé was heard by the HAC commissioners. The meeting seems to lead to an amicable settlement, according to the secretary general of the SPPG, contacted by our editorial staff: “The discussions started well. In the meantime, the union offered to mediate in this matter. We have started negotiations, so we cannot give any further details. Also, the file is under investigation at the HAC. For these two reasons, we cannot venture there. But remember that there is no danger in the house. The negotiations got off to a good start. » Let’s hope they end well too.
