Protesters Target Imperial State Crown at Tower of london, Four Arrested
A section of the Tower of London was temporarily closed saturday following an incident involving criminal damage to the display case housing the Imperial State Crown, a centerpiece of the Crown Jewels. Police confirmed the arrest of four individuals linked to the protest.
Authorities responded to reports of the incident just before 10 a.m. on Saturday, discovering that food had been thrown at the protective case. Footage circulating online appears to show demonstrators deliberately damaging the display. One protester is seen removing a tray of apple crumble and forcefully impacting it against the glass, while another poured a tub of bright yellow custard onto the front of the case.
“Officers worked closely with City of London Police and security officers and four peopel have been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage. They have taken into custody,” a police spokesperson stated. Initially, the entire Tower of London was closed to the public, but authorities later clarified that only the Jewel House remained inaccessible while the inquiry continued.
the group Take Back Power, identifying itself as a new non-violent civil resistance movement, has claimed responsibility for the act. The motivation behind the protest remains unclear, but the group’s name suggests a challenge to established authority.
