Toyota finances research at the Bulgarian INSAIT in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence, with the goal of developing new algorithms for controlling robots
INSAIT and Toyota will jointly develop a new generation robot with embedded artificial intelligence. This is done within the framework of a strategic partnership between the Japanese company and the Institute at Sofia University.
Within the framework of the project, Toyota finances research in the field of robotics in Bulgaria, the goal of which is the creation of a new type of artificial intelligence implemented in a robot, including audio commands, natural language commands and computer vision for object recognition. This artificial intelligence will make the robot functional for various tasks in everyday life. For example, he will have an important social role – helping the elderly or those in a difficult situation who find it difficult to carry out routine household tasks on their own. Along with that, in the long term, such a robot can also become a part of households all over the world.
The partnership with Toyota with a focus on the intersections between artificial intelligence and robotics is unique for Bulgaria, as it helps position the country as a place where world-class research is conducted and the technologies of the future are created, the press center of the Ministry of Education and Culture announced.
The development of the robot is only one part of this partnership, which will be expanded and upgraded in the coming months and years. It is also planned to grant more scholarships for researchers at INSAIT in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics, as the goal is to attract top talents in Bulgaria, with the help of which new scientific breakthroughs can be made at the world level.
