Following a tender process led by the Accountant General, the winning models in the tender were selected for hybrid vehicles that would serve the government vehicle fleet. This is another stage in the transition of the government fleet to alternative propulsion vehicles, in accordance with the Accountant General’s decision not to purchase gasoline – powered passenger vehicles and the government’s targets for combating the climate crisis.

The use of alternative propulsion vehicles is expected to reduce future government spending on fuel and maintenance, all while reducing the pollution generated from existing petrol vehicles in the government fleet.

The government fleet numbers about 15,000 vehicles, including police vehicles, fire brigades, IPS and various government ministries. Apart from the entities that are included in the tenders of the Vehicle Administration, many other entities use these tenders for the purchase of vehicles such as local authorities, government companies and more.

Accordingly, these entities will also be able to purchase hybrid passenger vehicles only through Government Vehicle Administration tenders.

Winning models are: Hyundai Elantra Hybrid PREMIUM, Toyota Corolla Hybrid Model Sun, Kia Niro Hybrid URBAN, Toyota Yaris Cross ECO, Toyota Rav 4 E-VOLVE, Kia Sorrento Hybrid EX and Toyota Highlander E-motion 4X4.

In addition to this, the Accountant General published two inquiries to the private market for information (RFI) regarding the receipt of charging services for electric vehicles in the public space and in the workers’ homes. All this, as part of the preparation of the government fleet for the entry of electric vehicles, as part of the Accountant General’s project to combat the climate crisis in the field of government vehicles.
