Toyota recalls electric car for faulty wheel that may detach

by time news
Toyota has announced the recall of 2,700 bZ4X electric cars worldwide due to a wheel problem. Toyota, Japan’s leading car maker based in Tokyo, has unveiled its first all-electric SUV. The bZ4X car was launched in India a few months back. It was sold with features such as front drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) to compete with cars like the Hyundai Ionic 5 and Kia EV6.

Toyota Motor Corp. announced last Friday that its first mainstream electric car and its full-size pickup truck, the BZ4X model, were likely to have loose nuts and bolts. Toyota has recalled 2,700 used cars so far, citing the potential for major accidents.

While the reason for this is still under investigation, it has been reported that the entire wheel may be replaced rather than repaired. Toyota has also asked that no one use the bZ4X electric car until a solution to the problem is found.

That is, owners of Toyota BZ4X electric SUVs are advised to stop driving. Because the wheels have been warned to fall off. It has been reported that this applies to all approximately 260 BZ4X SUVs offered to customers.

Of the latest recalled vehicles, Toyota said about 2,200 went to Europe, 270 to North America, 112 to Japan and 60 to Asia. They are produced in March and June. The bZ4X, which went on sale two months ago, was considered one of Toyota’s plans to strengthen its electric line-up.
