Toyota to recall 8,300 Lexus vehicles in Russia

by time news

The official division of the Japanese automaker Toyota in Russia, Toyota Motor LLC, is recalling 8,301 Lexus vehicles in the country due to the risk of fuel leakage due to the design features of the fuel tank vent tube, the press service of Rosstandart reported.

We are talking about Lexus GS 250, GS 350, GS 450H, GS-F, IS 200T, IS 250, IS 300H, RC 200T, RC 350, RC-F cars sold from March 16, 2012 to October 1, 2019.

“Due to the design of the fuel tank vent tube flange, there is a possibility of internal stresses on the outer surface of the flange, which can cause cracking. The crack can expand over time and, depending on the size, may eventually leak fuel from the crack,” they explained.

After the recall, the fuel tank vent tube assembly will be replaced free of charge. Car owners will be informed by representatives of Toyota Motor about the need to bring them to the nearest dealership for repair work.

This is the second Toyota recall campaign in Russia announced this week. Earlier, on January 24, Rosstandart announced the recall of 47,007 vehicles due to problems with the operation of the data transmission module software. The recall includes Lexus, Toyota Camry, Corolla, ES 200, ES 250, ES 350, GX 460, Hiace, LC 300, LC Prado, LS 350, LS 500, LX 500D, LX 600, NX 250, NX 350, which were sold from November 28, 2020 to the present.

Toyota suspended the work of the plant in St. Petersburg in March 2022. This decision was made due to violations in the logistics supply chains of parts. At the end of September, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that the company had decided to close the enterprise. The information was confirmed by Toyota. The company noted that after six months of inactivity, they see no prospects for resuming the work of the plant.
