At the end of August, there was a slight movement in the development of the prices of the main grain commodities on the world stock markets, according to the experts of the Sofia Stock Exchange (SSE), writes BTA.

The FOB (Free On Board) price of bread wheat in Chicago moved up $3 to $218 a tonne for September delivery. France also followed the upward trend by €3 to €209 per tonne. Only Ukraine lowered its quotations from last week by 2 dollars to its levels of a month ago – 225 dollars per ton, while in Russia the change was again zero and the price remained at 218 dollars per ton.

There is no movement in the price of corn in the USA and France this time – both are unadjusted at 182 dollars per ton and 197 euros per ton, respectively. In Ukraine, another decline was seen after the previous move up, with the price falling by $7 this week to $201 per tonne.

The price of barley in Ukraine went on a losing streak again, shedding $5 to reach $185 a tonne for September delivery. Euronext rapeseed for November delivery, after a sharp rise and subsequent collapse, this week recovered by 20 euros to 469.75 euros a tonne.

Crude sunflower oil contracts on the Rotterdam Stock Exchange have seen a number of swings since the start of the year. After two straight weeks of falling hard for August delivery, this week for September delivery bounced up $70 to $1,095 a tonne.

Refined sugar also continued its long-term swing and these days rose sharply by $45.10 for delivery in October, reaching $557 a tonne on the London exchange.

At the Sofia Commodity Exchange, trade in grain goods also moved. Bread wheat was offered in particularly large quantities at BGN 350 per ton EXW delivery (the seller’s obligation is only to ensure that the buyer has access to the goods), but for previous years’ harvest. This year’s crop was in demand at the higher price of BGN 370 per ton.

For fodder wheat, the demand increased, with the price being from BGN 340 to BGN 362 per ton, and the sellers were at BGN 400 per ton.

Corn for immediate delivery was offered in the range of 360 to 380 BGN per ton, and oilseed sunflower – from 820 to 840 BGN per ton. There was also an offer of fodder barley at a price of BGN 320 per ton.

The prices of basic commodities remained stable at the same level as the initial prices. Oil in bottles was sold at BGN 2.20 per liter, as well as unrefined oil at BGN 1,750 per ton. Yellow peas continued to be offered in big bags of one ton at a starting price of BGN 1,200 per ton.

In the subsection “Industrial goods” of the SSB, there were deals for gas oil for PCC from 2,297 to 2,359.39 BGN/thousand liters, for propane butane gas in the range of 874.13 – 1,065.60 BGN/thousand liters and for a huge variety of oils and chemicals.
