An electronics company from North Rhine-Westphalia has to file for bankruptcy. The company was founded 77 years ago.
A German electronics manufacturer with a long history has filed for bankruptcy. The company Astro Strobel from Bensberg near Bergisch-Gladbach announced on its website that the Cologne District Court had already made a corresponding decision on July 10. “The initiation of insolvency is a decisive moment for our company, but I am convinced that we will emerge from it stronger,” wrote managing director Herbert Strobel on the company’s website.
Insolvency administrator Thomas Ellrich sees good chances for restructuring. “The basic conditions for this are there. The operational business is fundamentally healthy and the company’s customers and suppliers are continuing their orders and deliveries,” the statement said. Business operations will continue for the time being, and the wages of the 115 employees will be paid through insolvency benefits from the Federal Employment Agency.
The Bensberg-based electronics manufacturer has been supplying trading companies, craft companies and system providers with electronic devices and system solutions, particularly for cable television, satellite reception and IPTV technology, for 77 years.
According to the company, it came under pressure primarily due to supply chain problems, triggered first by the corona pandemic and then by the war in Ukraine. The cancellation of a major order then caused the current difficulties. “The liquidity situation could no longer be improved out of court,” reported Strobel. Therefore, going to the district court was unavoidable. The company is now looking for investors and initial discussions have already taken place.
The company was founded in 1947 by Adolf Strobel, the grandfather of the current managing director. Even back then, he had a vision of the future market for radio reception technology.
