Traffic accidents increase this Easter

The General Directorate of Civil Protection provided this Saturday of Glory a preliminary balance of the emergencies attended this Holy Week, registering an increase in the number of accidents and injuries in road incidents

To this date, 337 traffic accidents have been recorded while the previous year 301 had been reported, while the number of injured has been 224 this year; while in 2022 it was 191.

Despite the increase in accidents, the number of fatalities has decreased compared to the previous year. For this 2023 there are 17 deaths in traffic accidents while last year it was 33.

“We are a few days away from the end of the Easter holidays, which is when the influx of tourists increases, for this reason we reiterate to the population that they abide by the recommendations that we offer in order to safeguard their lives,” said the director of Civil Protection, Luis Amaya.
