Manama: What to follow while boarding a school bus, how to behave inside the bus, what to pay attention to while crossing the road…The awareness program started by the Traffic Directorate to teach children traffic rules has gained attention. The awareness program was started at Avenues Mall on 4th September to coincide with the opening of schools. Many children must have forgotten about the traffic rules as they have been out of school for two years. In this context, the campaign was launched to help students travel to and from schools safely. Here the children are told what the various traffic signs that they see from the time they leave the house to the school.

The traffic authorities receive the children by giving them a coloring book indicating the traffic rules. In the ‘find the way’ game in the book, players take on the task of getting a child from home to school. The traffic rules seen on the road should be followed to bring the child to school. Children can sit and color in the pavilion itself. A model of the bus itself has been prepared here to teach the manners to be followed in the school bus. Here the children are introduced to what symbols indicate pedestrian paths, school bus stop, children’s play area etc. Children also learn that the traffic number to call in case of emergency is ‘199’.

Traffic Directorate aims to make children aware of traffic rules through games. Hundreds of local and non-resident children have already visited the pavilion. The authorities do not forget to give gifts to all the children who come. Traffic officials are also here to teach children traffic rules. The awareness program will conclude at 10 pm on Saturday. After passing the first gate of Avenues Mall, turn right and reach the event venue.
