The Fire Service was called to assist in three traffic accidents today, without, however, its services being needed in two of them, as the drivers managed to extricate themselves from their vehicles before arriving at the scene.
Early in the morning, an ICHE car veered off its course and overturned at the Panepirotiko junction, with the driver freed before the arrival of the Fire Brigade and picked up by an EKAV ambulance.
Also early in the morning, an ICHE car swerved at the Halkiadon Arta intersection and burst into flames, with the driver also being extricated before the Fire Brigade arrived. Five firefighters with two water vehicles from the Arta Fire Service arrived at the scene, and proceeded to extinguish the fire.
There was a diversion of a car before 11 am on the 3rd km from Parga to Preveza, with the driver being extricated by citizens before the fire brigade arrived.
However, the Fire Department had to operate on Holy Wednesday, when an ICHE car went off the road and fell down a steep slope at the 49th km of the Preveza – Igoumenitsa National Road. Seven firefighters, led by the commander of the Parga Fire Service, stabilized the car and freed the injured passenger, transporting him on a stretcher to the street, from where he was picked up by an ambulance from the Emergency Department. The driver of the car had managed to get out on his own before the Fire Department arrived.
