Orange signs have been put up to guide travelers after a landslide occurred on Saturday, resulting in the closure of the E6 in both directions between Stenungsund and Ljungskile. All lanes are closed except for the Stenungsund junction, where traffic is allowed to move in the southbound direction.

To alleviate the congestion caused by the closure, motorists are advised to take alternate routes such as route 650 or the E45 between Gothenburg and Trollhättan. However, the Swedish Transport Administration has warned that there is a high risk of queues during Monday’s traffic.

Bengt Olsson, Trafikverket’s press manager, advised residents in the affected area to wait and observe the traffic flow before deciding on alternative routes for their daily commutes.

In a show of support for the affected municipality, King Carl XVI Gustaf, Infrastructure Minister Andreas Carlson (KD), and Governor Sten Tolgfors will visit the landslide site on Monday. They aim to assess the situation and discuss the ongoing efforts to mitigate the effects of the landslide.

Three people were injured in connection with Saturday’s landslide and were taken to the hospital. As of Monday morning, two of them have been discharged from Kungälv’s hospital. One person remains in the hospital, with their condition described as stable.

The Swedish Transport Administration continues to work on clearing the landslide, but it is advised that those who need to travel plan their trips and leave earlier than usual, as delays are expected.
