A 14-year-old boy was killed when a car hit him during a crowd celebrating a French victory in the southern French city of Montpellier, local authorities said.

The boy, whose name has not been released, was taken to hospital where he later died.

The driver of the car fled the scene, but the vehicle was spotted nearby. Police are investigating what caused the car to hit the boy.
