During a tour held today (Sunday) in Meron with the Minister of Internal Security, Amar Bar-Lev – in preparation for Lag B’Omer, Deputy Chief of Staff Alik Elbaz, suffered a heart attack and died. He was 48 years old at the time of his death.

Elbaz, served in the fire department for 28 years as a firefighter and as a commander and in the past year served as a senior representative of the fire department in the Ministry of Internal Security. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Deputy Chief Elbaz grew in the operational arm of the fire brigade and held a number of command positions in the Dan district, including deputy and acting commander of the Bnei Brak station and head of the Bnei Brak investigation and emergency department. Fire and Rescue Commissioner Rabbi Tafser Eyal Caspi expressed his condolences to the family and noted: “Deputy Tafser Alik Elbaz, a valued, professional and pleasant officer, contributed his best years to maintaining Israel’s internal security. We will remember his personal contribution as a commander, example and role model to the fire brigade.”

“His untimely passing is an unfortunate and painful event. We embrace and embrace his dear family,” Caspi said.

Minister Bar-Lev said: “With great pain, I received the bitter news today about the sudden death of the late Deputy Chief of Staff Alik Elbaz, who served as the senior representative of the fire and rescue service in my office. Alik was a first-rate professional, but above all he was a unique person, wholehearted. And today that heart is silent. I share in the heavy mourning of the family. Of blessed memory”.

The funeral procession left at 19:00 from the family home, at 6 Yael Rom Street in Petah Tikva, to the Sgula Cemetery in Petah Tikva.
