Tragedy in Petah Tikva: A 13-year-old boy riding a scooter was killed by a car

by time news

A 13-year-old boy was killed this evening (Monday) by a car while riding an electric scooter near the Efron junction in Petah Tikva. MDA medics and paramedics who were called to the scene performed resuscitation and evacuated him to Beilinson Hospital, where they were forced to determine his death.

Preliminary specifications indicate that the scooter rider, a resident of Ramat Gan, crossed the traffic light at a pedestrian crossing, apparently at a red light. Unfortunately vehicles coming from the north on the bitter Zebulon axis were driving at a green light.

A driver traveling in the left lane managed to cross the intersection, and at this exact time the scooter rider descended to the crossing, was hit by the vehicle, flew towards a vehicle traveling parallel to the right of the offending vehicle, hit the second car window and from there flew to the traffic island on the other side of the intersection. The rider was hit on the road when parts of the scooter were scattered on the traffic island. The scooter itself is towed about 150 meters by the offending vehicle.

While handling the accident, the rider’s girlfriend arrived at the scene. A brief conversation she had with a person who was present at the scene following the accident told him that she had arranged a meeting with her boyfriend, who was reluctant to come, heard about the accident and ran to the scene. She received a phone call from the minor’s mother who informed her that she had been notified of his death at the hospital. The company left the arena on the way to the grieving family home.

Traffic inspectors have been at the scene for more than two hours, checking the circumstances of the incident. Police have a photo from municipal cameras installed at the intersection that documented the incident

MDA paramedic Elad Polak, who arrived at the scene, said: “The boy was lying on the side of the road near the sidewalk, unconscious and suffering from a very severe multi-system injury. “We immediately started medical treatment, put him in an intensive care unit and evacuated him to the hospital while performing resuscitation operations when his condition was critical.”
