During the CrossFit Games 2024 in Texas, a tragedy occurred when one of the participating athletes, 28-year-old Lazar Dukic, drowned during the 800-meter swimming event in Marin Creek Lake.
Approximately 100 meters from the finish line, Dukic began to drown. Despite an attempt by a spectator to assist him, a bystander on a paddle board inadvertently moved him away from the scene, seemingly unaware of the unfolding incident.
Following the incident, the organizing authority issued an official statement on social media, expressing their condolences to the deceased athlete’s family and announcing the postponement of the remaining events for the day.
