A man has died and a woman has been injured due to the collision of a boat with a “briccola” in the lagoon of Venice, a mooring post, which occurred last night.
The firefighters were called out to report the drifting vessel, which was spinning in front of the island of Sacca Fisola. Initial investigations revealed that the boat had struck one of the mooring posts. Two lagoon fire engines, the motorboat from the Maritime Office, and divers from Vicenza arrived on the scene.
The firefighters managed to board and regain control of the boat, discovering two people inside. First aid was administered, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation for the man, until the arrival of medical staff from Suem, who could only confirm his death. The woman was transferred by hydro ambulance to the hospital.
The personnel then carried out a patrol of the area to rule out the involvement of other vessels. The police and the Port Authority are on site to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident.
