A devastating accident at a car dealership in the San Fernando Valley has taken the life of a woman who worked as a nanny for singer Katharine McPhee and her husband, David Foster. The incident occurred on August 9 when an 84-year-old driver crashed into Hamer Toyota’s customer reception area, hitting multiple individuals.
The woman who tragically lost her life has been identified as Yadira Calito, 55, according to TMZ. However, the Los Angeles Police Department has not officially confirmed her identity.
According to the LAPD’s press release, the elderly driver, a resident of Mission Hills, accelerated into the building for unknown reasons, causing harm to several people inside. Two male employees, aged 23 and 35, as well as a 55-year-old female customer, presumed to be Calito, sustained injuries.
All three victims were promptly rushed to the hospital, where the men received treatment for their non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to fully recover. Sadly, the female customer succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The LAPD has revealed that no arrests have been made in connection with the collision. Consequently, investigations into the incident are ongoing.
While representatives for McPhee, Foster, and Hamer Toyota have yet to comment on the incident, the car dealership addressed the event on their Facebook page. They expressed their primary concern for the injured individuals’ well-being and requested the understanding and patience of the community.
In an unrelated statement on her Instagram, McPhee announced that a “horrible tragedy” had occurred in their family, leading her to leave the couple’s “David Foster and Friends” tour in Asia. She expressed her deep sorrow to Jakarta fans and expressed her desire to return and perform for them in the future.
TMZ initially reported Calito’s sudden death on Friday, although there has been no official confirmation from McPhee or Foster. McPhee was spotted looking somber at LAX, further indicating the gravity of the situation.
