Tragic Drowning of 10-Year-Old Boy in Modi’in Illit

In a heart-wrenching scene filled with tears and sorrow, the city of Modi’in Illit bids farewell to young Baruch Abadi, a 10-year-old boy who tragically drowned in the local pool of the village of Matityahu. Hundreds of people have come together to accompany the pure and righteous boy on his final journey.

During the tearful funeral, Baruch’s older brother, Yabadlahta, was seen breaking down in bitter tears. Overwhelmed with grief, he tore his clothes as a symbol of mourning for his beloved sibling.

As reported yesterday, Baruch, who hailed from an ultra-Orthodox family in Kiryat Safar, drowned in a private pool in the Matityahu settlement. Rescue teams arrived promptly at the scene and found the boy unconscious. Despite performing CPR, his condition worsened, and he was pronounced dead shortly after.

One of the medics involved in the rescue efforts, Shushi Kreuzer from the Rescue Union, recounted the harrowing experience. “We worked tirelessly to revive the boy who was retrieved from the pool without a pulse or breath,” Kreuzer said. “Miraculously, he briefly regained consciousness before being rushed to the Shamir-Assaf Harofeh hospital, where he remains in serious condition.”

The MDA spokesperson confirmed that their medics and paramedics provided immediate medical care and conducted CPR on the young victim. Once his pulse returned, he was urgently transferred to Shamir-Assaf Hospital while receiving ventilatory support due to his critical condition.

Sadly, despite the extensive resuscitation efforts, the doctors had to declare the young boy deceased.

The community of Modi’in Illit is in a state of shock and devastation following this tragic incident. The loss of such a young life has left everyone grappling with immense sadness and grief. Our condolences go out to Baruch’s family and loved ones during this extremely challenging time.
