What happened here, on Johann-Strauß-Gasse in Muckendorf, is currently still the subject of investigations. Police and rescue services are on site, and gradually the horrific details are coming to light: Two children and a woman were found dead in the family’s house this Wednesday afternoon. It is believed to be the 29-year-old mother and her two daughters (5 and 8).
Shock prevails around the crime scene. Locally, there are similarities being drawn to the Absdorf case. As other media report, there is suspicion that the woman first killed her two children and then herself.
According to Stefan Pfandler, the head of the state criminal office, a handgun was discovered and secured in the vicinity. Investigations into the causes of death and the background were ongoing in the evening hours, as reported by APA.
On site were the crime scene team and officers from the state criminal office’s personal safety department. Interviews and interrogations were conducted. A forensic expert was expected in the community on Wednesday to help reconstruct the sequence of events. The investigation will also naturally include the firearm – “whether it was used and how,” Pfandler told APA.
The classic crime scene work is now beginning, Pfandler explained on site in the afternoon. He could only confirm that the Austrian woman had not shown up for work and was unreachable by phone. A relative became worried, and around 3 PM, the ex-partner and father of the children discovered the three bodies.
Investigations are being conducted in all directions, including whether health issues may have played a role. Locally, it is rumored that the 29-year-old, who was said to have worked in the healthcare sector, had psychological problems, and there are also mentions of a previous emergency rescue operation.
