Tragic Loss: ‘Elite’ Star Julian Ortega Dies at 41 Following Heart Attack

The actor Julian Ortega, who starred in the successful Spanish Netflix series “Elite,” passed away at the age of 41 on August 25 after suffering a cardiac arrest while visiting Zahora beach in Spain, according to local media.

The Spanish Actors Association (Union de Actores y Actrices) published an obituary for Ortega on Monday.

While initial reports suggested that the Spanish actor had drowned, authorities later stated that he suffered a cardiac arrest while on the shore. After paramedics attempted to revive him for several minutes, Ortega lost the battle and succumbed.

His artistic career
Ortega played the role of the restaurant manager of “La Cabana” in the Spanish drama series “Elite,” appearing in several episodes during the first season of the show. “Elite” aired for eight seasons from 2018-2024 and concluded on July 26.

The series features a group of working-class teenagers who enroll in a prestigious private high school and clash with the established elite. It was nominated for several Fotogramas de Plata awards, an annual distinction from the Spanish film magazine “Fotogramas” since 1951.
