London: Former England cricketer Graham Thorpe committed suicide due to depression, his family said.

The England Cricket Board announced that Graham Thorpe, aged 55, died on 5 August. Cricket fans and celebrities around the world mourned his death.

In this context, Graham Thorpe, who had been suffering from severe depression for a few years, committed suicide, according to Graham’s wife Amanda Thorpe.

He said: “It’s not good even though he has a wife and children who love him and care for him. Recently his health has deteriorated. He was really starting to believe that we would be better off without him.

Graham, who had been suffering from depression and severe stress in recent years, attempted suicide in 2022. Because of this, his health was seriously affected and he was in the intensive care unit for a long time.

As a family we did all kinds of treatment for him. But none of them came to fruition.” Amanda said.

Graham Thorpe played 100 Tests and 82 ODIs and scored over 9,000 runs in his international cricket career. The 13 years between 1993 and 2005 were the peak of his cricket career.
