Karaman met a tragic end when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a drunk driver who lost control of the car and hit the 34-year-old center/forward.

Karaman was standing on a sidewalk waiting for a friend who was filling up his car’s fuel tank at a gas station.

Karaman was an international player for the Turkish National Team for a brief period (EuroBasket 2013 qualifiers) and was actually selected in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Nets, at #57.

He played for many well-known Turkish top-tier teams and won the Turkish championship in 2014 with Fenerbahçe.

He also played one season in the EuroLeague, specifically in the 2012-13 season, averaging 4.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in 22 appearances.

He also played for Karşıyaka, Tofaş, Beşiktaş among other teams in Turkey, as well as abroad, specifically in the French league with Solla and Antibes.
