The body of a 15-year-old girl, Saja Fatima, was recovered near the Karurkadav Bridge in Pallikalar, Kollam, two days after she went missing. Saja Fatima, a 10th class student at Karunagappally Girls High School, had left home on Wednesday morning to go to tuition but never returned. Her bicycle and shoes were found on the side of the road, prompting a search by the fire brigade, scuba team, and local people.
Her body was found on the north side of the bridge yesterday afternoon. The police confirmed that a note was found, indicating that her concerns were related to the upcoming SSLC exam. Saja Fatima is the daughter of T. Sajad and R. Minimol, who works as a nurse at the taluk hospital. She leaves behind siblings Aisha and Irfan.
The tragic incident is a reminder that suicide is not a solution and help should be sought from mental health experts. Helpline numbers have been provided for those in need. An inquest was prepared at the Karunagappally Taluk Hospital, and the body was buried after a post-mortem at Paripally Medical College.
