by time news

The police were called out to a violent incident in Grane municipality near Trofors. A man was found dead, while a woman is injured.

– She is being taken care of by medical personnel and her injuries are not life-threatening, reports operations manager Lars Halvorsen in Nordland police district in a statement to the press.

Relatives have not been notified.

A third person was present at the scene and has been arrested. The arrested individual has been taken to Mosjøen for questioning.

Halvorsen tells VG that the arrested man is charged with murder.

They report that they have control of the scene and that the operational phase is over. Now they have deployed substantial resources and initiated an investigation.

– It is too early to say anything about the sequence of events that led to one person being dead and another injured. This is something the ongoing investigation will determine, Halvorsen said in the statement to the press.

The police are still working to clarify what happened.

– It concerns who has done what. There were people nearby who reported to the police, and it is unclear if they had a role in the matter, Halvorsen told NTB.

Lawyer Jonas Berge from Elden Law Firm has been appointed as the defender for the arrested man. This is stated in a press email from Elden Law Firm.

– I have not yet received the documents from the police. As soon as I receive them, I will have further dialogue with my client to clarify what will happen next in the case, lawyer Jonas Berge from Elden Law Firm said.

He cannot provide any further information about the role of the arrested individual in the incident or how he relates to the charges.

Mayor Raymond Fagerli (Sp) in Grane spoke to Dagbladet.

– It is sad when such things happen. We are a small municipality and everyone knows everyone. This hits very close to home.
