TRAI constantly takes decisions to improve the telecom experience. The government agency has now taken a new decision. Actually, work is being done to protect those users who want to get rid of promotional calls. If you also want to do something similar, then you must know about this new instruction of TRAI. This decision may surprise you too.
TRAI on Tuesday asked all access providers to stop promotional calls with immediate effect. These calls are pre-recorded or computer generated. This decision has been taken regarding the calls made by unregistered telemarketers (UTMs). They make related calls to users using telecom resources. Spam calls are also included in this.
The telecom regulator said in an official statement, “All promotional voice calls coming from unregistered senders/unregistered telemarketers should be stopped immediately. Calling using SIP/PRI/any other telecom resource should be stopped immediately as it causes a lot of trouble to the users. Such calls should be stopped immediately.”
Access providers have also been asked to take immediate action if any unregistered sender/UTM is found misusing their telecom resources. Such actions can be taken if the company’s rules are violated. Telecom resources are allowed to be banned for up to 2 years. TRAI says that if someone does this, then he is violating the Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulation, 2018. Immediate action should be taken against those doing this. Because it is very important that telecom operators feel very safe during this time.
The decision has already been taken-
This is not the first time that TRAI has asked companies to take such a decision. Earlier also TRAI has taken a decision to curb spam calls. Action against such numbers is going to start from 1 September.
