There is important news for mobile users. Actually, from September 1, some mobile users may face problems in receiving banking calls, messages and OTP. A new rule is being implemented by TRAI, under which there is a plan to filter fake calls and messages. This plan is being implemented across the country from September 1, 2024. However, there may be problems in receiving banking messages and OTP in filtering fake messages and calls. Because telecom operators Airtel, Jio and Vodafone-Idea will have to register on their platform in the initial phase to filter fake messages and calls.Un-registered messages and OTP will be stopped
Telecom companies have been directed by TRAI to block messages containing URLs, OTT links, APKs (Android application packages), or call-back numbers that are not registered with telecom companies from September 1, 2024. This directive means that banks, financial institutions and online platforms will have to register the templates and content of all their messages and OTPs with telecom operators like Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea by August 31. If this is not done, such messages will be blocked.
What is the big change?
Let us tell you that from next month, telecom companies will have to match commercial messages with records. Messages that do not do so will be blocked. According to ET’s report, telecom companies are asking for more time to implement the new change. But TRAI is not ready to extend the deadline.
What will be the impact on mobile users?
Its direct impact will be seen on mobile users, because in case of not getting OTP, mobile users may face problems in making online payments. If any goods are delivered online, then OTT is also necessary in that. At present, every transaction is verified by OTT. But with the implementation of the new rule, there will be a problem in receiving OTT messages. Especially in the initial days, mobile users may face some problems.
