Directed by Victor Garcia (Gallows Hill, Return to House on Haunted Hill, reflections 2, Hellraiser: Revelations), opens this Friday, February 10 in Spain, after its presentation at the Sitges Festivalthe movie The communion girl. It is based on an idea of his own. Victor Garcia and of Beto Mariniscreenwriter of projects such as Unit, As you sleep, The unknown o Stories not to sleep, among others. The script is borne by the playwright and screenwriter Guillem Clua (The crooked lines of God, The innocent), winner of the National Award for Dramatic Literature in 2020.
The film stars Carla Campra (Verónica, Everybody Knows), Marc Soler (Everyone Lies), Aina Quiñones (You Will Not Kill) and Carlos Oviedo (The Laws of the Border). The cast is completed by Claudia Riera, Maria Molins, Xavi Lite, Anna Alarcón, Víctor Solé, Mercè Llorens, Daniel Rived, Manel Barceló, Jacob Torres, Olimpia Roch, Sara Roch and Helena Gómez, among others.
SYNOPSIS OF THE GIRL OF THE COMMUNION
May, 1987. The bells of a small town in the interior ring out for a party. The church is prepared to celebrate a first communion mass; among the children is Judith, Sara’s little sister.
After Judith’s communion, Sara and her friend Rebe go out one night partying and when it gets late, they have to hitchhike back. During the journey, the driver of the car intimidates them with bad jokes until someone (or “something”) crosses them on the road.
They get out of the car to investigate and only find… an old communion doll in the middle of the dark forest.
This is how the story of Sara begins, the doll and the disappearance of a girl on the day of her communion.
The communion girl It had its premiere in our country at the Sitges Film Festival, where it could be seen in the Official Selection out of competition and later, it was screened at the Noir in from Milan.
The communion girl is an Ikiru Films, La Terraza Films, La Niña de la Comunión AIE, Atresmedia Cine, Rebelión Terrestre and Warner Bros. Entertainment production. It will hit theaters on February 10, 2023, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Spain.
