At least three people were injured when a man armed with a knife attacked passengers on the ICE high-speed train on Saturday morning, November 6. The incident occurred when a train en route from Regensburg to Hamburg was near the city of Nuremberg in the federal state of Bavaria, local police said. The attacker was detained after the train was stopped and several police squads arrived at the scene. All passengers were immediately evacuated.

A police spokeswoman confirmed to AFP that the attacker did have a knife. At the same time, according to her, the lives of the victims are out of danger. Investigative measures are currently underway.

According to unconfirmed reports, even before the attack, the man behaved “mentally inadequate” on the train, “several times called someone for help.” He is 27 years old. Nothing is known about his motives yet.
