This Monday began the training of 149 health professionals (70 intercultural community facilitators and 79 family doctors) within the framework of the program to strengthen Intercultural Health in Ecuador, which is undertaken by the Ministry of Public Health.

The investment of this project is USD 6 million on a national scale. Its main objective: to increase the access of the population of towns and nationalities to health services to improve their quality of life.

The Undersecretary for Promotion, Intercultural Health and Equality, Andrea Bersosa, highlighted the professionalism and commitment of the new professionals who will be part of this change. “Let’s look for the articulation from each of our spaces to be able to help the community. Teamwork will allow us to go far,” the authority said.

Both intercultural community facilitators and general practitioners will have to promote inclusion, participation, dialogue and exchange of knowledge, with communities and social organizations, with actions that make it possible to identify possible health problems in their territories and strengthen prevention tasks. diseases and health promotion, in turn support the socialization of the portfolio of services to patients in the native language of the town.

The training began today and will continue until next Thursday, at the Government Platform for Social Development, in Quitumbe, south of Quito.
