In the land of the village of Arnautito in Stara Zagora, along the railway line, in several places there is burning of dry grass and bushes, low vegetation. This was reported to BTA by senior inspector Mihail Mihov, head of the “Operational Center” group at the Regional Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of the Population” in Stara Zagora.
“Extinguishing operations are being made difficult by the voltage on the railway line, we have asked for the voltage to be turned off and the railway has been stopped at the moment. All trains from Mihailovo station to Stara Zagora and back have been stopped so that we can extinguish safely,” Mihov said. He explained that this was to ensure the safety of the teams working on the ground. The incident was reported shortly after 4:00 p.m.
On the website of BDZ, it is stated that between the Mihailovo and Kaloyanovets stations, the schedule for the movement of trains in this direction has been disrupted.
Regarding the big fire, which has already been burning for more than 50 hours north of Stara Zagora, Mihov said that a heavy tracked machine made clearings along the entire perimeter of the fire in its most dangerous direction – northwest. Thanks to the volunteers who were here and to all the institutions that were involved in extinguishing the fire, we managed. No smoke was visible, but crews would remain on duty throughout the night, the fire official said.
