Trample attack in Jerusalem: two people were killed, five more injured

A drive-by attack happened today (Friday) in the Ramot neighborhood in Jerusalem. According to the suspicion, a vehicle hit several pedestrians at a bus stop on Golda Meir Blvd., corner of Binyamin Mintz, in the Ramot neighborhood of the capital. MDA medics and paramedics provided medical treatment to six victims on the spot, including two children in critical condition during CPR, two more injured in serious condition unconscious, and two more injured in moderate condition. A six-year-old boy and a man in his 20s were pronounced dead.

Haframedic MDA Lishi Shemesh who passed by the scene at the time of the attack said: “I was in the car with my wife and children and I noticed a car driving fast to the bus stop and running over the people standing at the station. I stopped on the side and immediately ran towards the injured. A security guard neutralized and eliminated the terrorist. The sight was shocking, we saw casualties including 6 and 8 year old children lying unconscious. We started to do an initial screening of the victims and give them life-saving treatment. Immediately, large MDA forces arrived on the scene and continued the medical treatment and evacuated to the hospitals. I joined one of the ambulances and we evacuated a 26-year-old man in serious condition with a head injury to Shaare Zedek Hospital.”

The trauma unit at Hadassah Mount Scopus reported that one injured person, in his 40s, was taken to the hospital in moderate condition. Four other injured people were brought to the trauma unit at the Shaarei Zedek Medical Center. Police Commissioner R.N. Yaakov Shabtai arrived at the scene of the incident.

The terrorist is a Palestinian, Hossein Karaka, a 30-year-old resident of Mizrah Y-M from the Issawiya neighborhood.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is regularly updated on the details of the attack, and ordered to increase forces in the sector and immediately carry out investigations and arrests of the terrorist’s surroundings. The Prime Minister also decided to act immediately to seal the terrorist’s house and demolish it.
