Trans ideology is ‘sinful and terribly destructive’

Pastor John Piper has once again spoken out strongly against trans ideology, stating that sex reassignment surgeries are part of a “sinful” idea that leads to a “terribly destructive” consequence.

In your podcastthe pastor, writer and teacher responded to a question from a listener who preferred not to be identified and said he was “seriously considering removing the female parts of my body.”

“I no longer want to be a woman. Women are seen as weak vessels whose sole purpose is to bear children. Even the Scriptures support this ideology. As a modern ‘woman’ I do not wish to have children or get married, but to have a successful career to help less fortunate people and animals live better lives. My question is this: would doing this to my body be sinful?” asked the listener.

Piper’s response was straightforward: “will be sinful and it will likely be terribly destructive of you as a person.”

Then the pastor refuted the idea that Scripture says a woman’s only purpose is to have children: “Neither the Bible nor the Church has ever said or suggested that a woman’s only purpose is to have children,” he said. “You know in the Gospels, women followed Jesus and served Him in many ways.”

“[O apóstolo] Paul refers to countless women who worked side by side with him in the Gospel. You know the love between a man and a woman in marriage is so much deeper and richer than just making a baby,” added Piper.

The veteran theologian then acknowledged that 1 Peter 3:7 refers to women as “the weaker vessel,” but he mused that mainstream culture agrees for obvious reasons: “There’s women’s NBA, women’s collegiate volleyball, women’s gymnastics, women’s track and field. , women’s football, women’s Tour de France”.

“But,” Piper warned, “when you’re done mutilating yourself, you’re still going to be part of the weaker sex. You can make your chest flat – it won’t make you strong. You will be weaker than 90% of men your age. In fact, you will be weaker than before, not stronger, because pretending is weakness. Living a life trying to be what you are not is a life of weakness,” she urged.

The pastor also declared that “God made us male and female, and we are male and female all the time”, and highlighted that the “glory of womanhood” is much more than certain parts of the body: “The glory of womanhood is not something as superficial as the breasts and uterus. It is marked in every cell of your body, in every dimension of your soul, in every part of your brain.”

“Dear friend, whose name I would like to know, you are a female marvel of God’s handiwork, and no amount of wear and tear will make you stop being a God-designed masterpiece,” concluded the pastor.
