The weather conditions continue to upset the organizers of the Transat Jacques Vabre. Already postponed, the departure of the Imoca will not take place on Sunday as planned, due to the weather conditions forecast for this weekend in the west of France and the low tidal coefficients which make it impossible to leave the basins of the 40 monohulls.

“The possibility mentioned yesterday (Wednesday) of seeing the Imocas set off on Sunday is now excluded, in particular because of the strengthening of the westerly wind, very impactful off the coast of Le Havre, the wave maps of the different models also show a deterioration of the state of the sea on Sunday, which would clearly complicate the technical arrangements for organizing a start in the Bay of Seine, with probably one meter more waves than last Sunday,” explains Francis Le Goff, the race director. .

The race management team is now working on several start scenarios. The first option would be Tuesday, November 7, very early in the morning, with the Imoca leaving on the morning open door (from 5:00 a.m. to 6:15 a.m.). Other initial hypotheses after this date are also studied. The preferred option for the route is a direct route to Martinique, with no compulsory crossing mark.
