English Premier League (EPL) team Wolverhampton has signed a new striker to play alongside national team player Hwang Hee-chan.

On the 3rd (Korean time), Wolverhampton introduced new recruit Jörgen Strand Larsen on their homepage, saying, “Ahead of the 2024-2025 season, we have recruited Jörgen Strand Larsen as our new number 9 (central striker).”

The club said, “The versatile Larsen has both the desire to be a striker and the selflessness of a team player. He prefers to play with his back to the goal and also shows penetrating movement.”

He added, “The club has been scouting Larsen since 2018 and has been watching him for several years. After his performance last season, he was the team’s top priority for the new season.”

Larsen also expressed his determination, saying, “I will fight for the team. I will give 100 percent of everything I have,” and “If I have to lose three teeth in the game, I will do it.”

Wolverhampton previously announced that they had signed Norwegian striker Larsen from Celta Vigo in the Spanish La Liga on loan with an option to buy.

There are evaluations that he was brought in as a replacement for Wolverhampton’s key players Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha, who are embroiled in transfer rumors.

Last season, Larsen showed his potential by scoring 13 goals and 3 assists in 37 games in the Spanish La Liga.

Next season he will begin a new challenge in the EPL, where his Norwegian compatriot Erling Haaland (Manchester City) is playing.

Attention is focused on how Wolverhampton’s chosen striker, Larsen, will synergize with Hwang Hee-chan, who can play both centrally and on the wing.

Under manager Gary O’Neill, Hwang Hee-chan was Wolverhampton’s leading scorer last season, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists in 31 games across all competitions.

Hwang Hee-chan, who finished the season, said at the Football Festival held last month, “I really want to play in the EPL for as long as possible and show my best performance,” and “I want to show my best performance again because I need to do well this season to have next season.”

Hwang Hee-chan will spend his break in Korea before joining his team Wolverhampton for the pre-season.
