Transgabonaise: “The works are 70% executed in its 1st phase”, according to the SG of Public Works

DIG/ Launched on September 25, 2020, the 1st phase of the Transgabonaise road project – which should link Libreville to Franceville over a length of 800 km – is coming to an end.

According to the latest observation made by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works, Pierre Ybimba Mounanga,” THE tworks are executed at 70%”.

With a clear progress on the Ntoum-Nsilé section which is part of the first phase (81 km) of the said project and where only a few finishing tasks remain to be carried out, namely the guardrails, road signs, road markings and kilometer markers.

The other section (Nkok-Ntoum) is progressing positively, notwithstanding the delay in its execution.

“With the support of the Société Autoroutiere du Gabon (SAG), the government has asked the company to increase the number of machines and teams on the ground.

We have therefore noted that over these 16 km, the company has deployed eight teams which are working to catch up. The winning company, Afcons, is already building 19 of the 39 hydraulic structures planned for this section, reassured the Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works.

According to Chérif Dhafer, the independent engineer responsible for technical control on behalf of the Tunisian firm Studi International, the work is being carried out in accordance with the specifications.

As a reminder, thehe works of the Transgabonaise consist to connect the Gabonese capital to the capital of Haut-Ogooué, crossing the provinces of Moyen-Ogooué, Woleu-Ntem, Ogooué-Ivindo and Ogooué-Lolo.

Its first phase aims to develop in 2X2 lanes of the road between Nkok and Ntoum. Then, in an enlargement between the capital of the Komo-Mondah department in Nsilé.

The second phase concerns the Nsilé-Bifoun (63 km) and Bifoun-Ndjolé (56 km) sections.
