BANGKOK ∙ Chakrapong, a transgender and owner of Thailand’s leading business firm, was bought by the Miss Universe Organization. The deal is worth 2 crores (Rs 164 crores). Chakrapong is the owner of JKN Global Group and a well-known celebrity in Thailand. She is a frontline activist of the transgender community.
Chakrapong bought the company, including the rights to the beauty pageant, from IMG Worldwide, which organizes the Miss Universe pageant. Since 2015, Miss Universe pageants have been held by IMG. From 1996 to 2015, the former President of the United States, Donald Trump, ran the organization.
