A travel ban has been imposed on two Lebanese provinces where armed conflict between Israel and Hezbollah is intensifying.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 11th that it was issuing a level 4 travel warning for southern Lebanon and Nabatiye Province.

The timing of the announcement is from 00:00 on the 12th, Korean time.

This measure is an upgrade from the existing three-level departure advisory to the highest level. So far, a travel ban has only been issued in Lebanon to the Israel border area (5km), and a departure advisory has been issued for all areas except this area.

The travel warning operated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is categorized into ‘Caution against travel (Level 1) – Avoid travel (Level 2) – Recommendation to leave the country (Level 3) – Prohibit travel (Level 4).

When level 4 is issued, travel is prohibited and those currently staying must evacuate or withdraw immediately. If you visit or stay in the area despite the travel ban being issued, you may be punished according to relevant regulations such as the Passport Act.

As of this day, there are about 30 Koreans staying in Lebanon. About 110 people are staying in Iran and 460 people are staying in Israel.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, “As the instability of the situation in the Middle East has recently increased, we have expanded the level 4 travel ban areas,” and asked, “Nationals who had planned to travel to the region should cancel, and if they are currently staying there, please withdraw immediately.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs plans to continue to closely monitor the situation in the Middle East and take various measures to ensure the safety of our people.
