As part of the detailed program of meetings of the “Travel Literature Festival” currently taking place in Rome, the National Union of Italian Pro Locos is organizing the technical table on the theme: “Food and Culture, an alliance for the development and promotion of territories” which will be held on Thursday 21 September starting from 11 am at Villa Celimontana, headquarters of the Italian Geographical Society (Rome).

The meeting, introduced and moderated by Antonino La Spina, president of Unpli, will be attended by: Angelo Rossi, advisor to the Minister of Agricultural Policies, Claudio Mattia Serafin, advisor to the Minister of Tourism, Roberta Garibaldi, University of Bergamo Stefano Pisani, mayor of Pollica, Vincenzo Santoro, head of Culture and Tourism of Anci, Leandro Ventura, director of the Central Institute for Intangible Heritage, Michele Sonnessa, president of Città dell’Olio, Angelo Radica, president of Città del Vino, and Antonio Politano, artistic director of the “Festival of Travel Literature”.

“The “Food and Culture” technical table aims to be a moment of discussion and analysis with some of the players in the sectors involved, starting from the awareness that Italy has an unrivaled food and wine heritage, a real strong point present in every territory and capable of attracting tourists and visitors from all over the world” says the president of UNPLI, Antonino La Spina, presenting Thursday’s event. “Food – continues La Spina – is also a cultural identity; from food, for example, comes the story of the territories, of the history and traditions linked to the typical products. A real heritage that is the driving force of the individual communities and can still be so more if we can create a system.”

“The collaboration between the Travel Literature Festival and Unpli, the Festival’s traditional partner, is strengthened, which on this occasion has decided to focus on the country’s food and wine heritage as an asset for tourism development. In fact, Italian food specialties, well underlined since the inclusion of the Mediterranean diet in the UNESCO intangible heritage, they are the pleasant complement to an increasingly attentive and aware travel style” underlines Claudio Bocci, president of the Travel Culture Association.

The meeting is free to attend, but pre-registration is recommended. The calendar of events and all the information on the “Travel Literature Festival” are available on the dedicated website. The “Travel Literature Festival”, of which Unpli is once again a partner, is promoted by the Italian Geographical Society and organized by the association Travel Culture.
