Islamabad,

Pakistan’s opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif has been sworn in as Pakistan’s new prime minister following the overthrow of the opposition’s no – confidence motion in Pakistan’s parliament last month.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan has refused to accept the appointment of Shabaz Sharif as the new prime minister, claiming that there was a foreign conspiracy in the overthrow of his regime. Moreover, Imran Khan has from time to time been mobilizing supporters of his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party.

In this context, former Prime Minister Imran Khan marched with supporters of his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party to the capital Islamabad last month. Security forces were deployed in Islamabad as a precautionary measure to stop the rally.

Clashes broke out between police and protesters as Imran Khan supporters marched towards the capital despite the blockade. Many Imran Khan supporters were injured in the clashes, which also resulted in violent clashes.

The Pakistani government has reportedly decided to file a sedition case against former Prime Minister Imran Khan for allegedly plotting to attack government property during a protest in Islamabad last month.
