WithinThe 70th anniversary of the death of Frida Kahlo, The Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo House-Studio Museum (Mcedryfk) invites the public to participate in the Free workshop “Tree of Hope”, next Saturday, July 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The activity, which is carried out in collaboration with the National Forestry Commission (Conafor), aims to honor the memory of the Mexican painter and reflect on the importance of hope and resilience.

The “Tree of Hope” workshop is inspired by two phrases written by Frida Kahlo in her memoirs: “Don’t let the tree that loves you so much get thirsty” and “Tree of Hope, stay strong.”

These phrases, which reflect the artist’s strength and constant struggle, will serve as a starting point for a collective reflection on hope and the ability to overcome adversity.

The first phrase appears in a 1938 letter addressed to Diego Rivera, where Frida expresses her love through a poem.

In her writings, Frida used the image of the tree as a symbol of resilience and strength. The second phrase, “Tree of hope, stand firm,” is found in the context of one of her surgeries and is also the title of one of her best-known paintings. It represents her struggle and desire to remain strong in the face of adversity.

During the workshop, participants will receive a flower pot and will be able to decorate it with one of Frida Kahlo’s quotes. In addition, they will be given a guided tour of the exhibition “Kahlo without Borders,” which offers an intimate look at the life and work of the Mexican artist.

“Kahlo without Borders” not only commemorates Frida Kahlo’s legacy on the 70th anniversary of her death, but also celebrates her life and her lasting impact on art and culture. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to discover the woman behind the myth, through correspondence, clinical documents and photographs that tell her story of struggle and perseverance.

The commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Frida Kahlo’s death at the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo House-Studio Museum promises to be an emotional and educational event, honoring the memory of one of the most influential artists in Mexico and the world.
