Doha: Trendy rickshaws are now the star in Qatar. Place Vendôme, Lucille Marina Food Arena and Katara Towers are among the most frequented.
There are at least five electric rickshaws operating at Place Vendome, Lucille Marina Food Arena and Katara Towers.
Working hours are daily from 7 pm to 3 am. Eco-friendly e-rickshaws that can be pedaled and operated manually operate at a speed between 15kmph and 23kmph.
A 15-20 minute journey costs up to 60 Riyals. Each rickshaw can seat four people including the driver. “There are a lot of people on the road so we try not to go too fast for everyone’s safety. We want them to enjoy the ride.” A driver said.
Ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, visitors are hoping that the number of eco-friendly vehicles such as rickshaws will increase in Qatar.
