Trento Film Festival, edition n.72 dedicated to Ireland: the mountain between new challenges and fragility. Homage to Francesco Nuti – Culture and Entertainment

TRENTO. “Over the years we have moved from the vision of the mountain as a summit, as a climb, and as a conquest, to the culture of the mountain as a limit: the fragility of the mountain has increased just as ours has also increased”. Mauro Leveghi, president of the Trento Film Festival, said this when presenting edition no. in Milan. 72 of the festival, dedicated to Ireland, from April 26th to May 5th.

Exploration of oneself, the fragility of the mountain, the new challenges it poses to man, the female vision, are some of the threads that unravel in the exhibition. In programming 120 film, divided into different sections – International Competition, Alp&Ism, Previews, Special Screenings, Terre Alte, Orizzonti Vicini and the titles dedicated to Ireland, the guest country of this edition. There are 166 events, explained director Luana Bisesti, 83 of which are dedicated to the future with attention to schools and young people.

The opening film is Oura El Jbel (Behind the Mountains) by the Tunisian Mohamed Ben Attia, while the closing is entrusted to Kinra-Motherland by the Peruvian Marco Panatonik, already winner of the Golden Astor for best film at the Mar del Mar International Film Festival Plata. In the 25 titles – including short films and feature films – that compete for the Golden Gentian, the mountain will be told in the most diverse ways, from animation to experimentation, from fiction to documentary.

The program of special screenings (12 titles, 10 feature films and 2 shorts) includestribute to Francesco Nuti with his “mountain” film Tutta fault del cielo, and the preview of The Experimental Age by Marco Zingaretti, starring Erri De Luca. Among the themes at the center of the festival the feminine mountain (also the subject of the official manifesto signed by Ludovica Basso aka Clorophilla), with the “9b+ female plural” conference with some of the strongest and most international representatives of female sport climbing, such as Wafaa Amer, a climber of Egyptian origin.

Numerous guests are expected, mountaineers Reinhold Messner, Tamara LungerKrzysztof Wielicki, Silvo Karo, the Iranian climber and civil rights activist Nasim Eshquithe climbing champion Stefano Ghisolfithe writers Mauro CoronaArno Camenisch, Enrico Brizzi, Fosco Terzani, Matteo Righetto, the actors Alessio Boni and Veronica Pivetti.

From the beginning, the Festival has had the support of the CAI and the municipality of Trento which, as the deputy mayor of Trento Elisabetta Bozzarelli recalled, this year is also the European capital of volunteering.
